London’s Docklands may no longer be the thriving maritime powerhouse they once were, but with the introduction of big business they are still vital centres of commerce and offer some of the most iconic residential developments in London.

Following the Thames across the East and South East of London, the London Docklands have a wonderful storied history, since medieval times these stretches of riverside have played host to ships and ship-workers engaged in war, transport and trade over hundreds of years.

In recent times, with the decline of the shipping industry, the Docklands fell into disrepair, home to derelict warehouses and little else. It wasn’t until quite recently that the rejuvenation of this historic region was complete. Incorporating parts of Limehouse, Canary Wharf, Greenwich and other regions of east-London, the London Docklands are now a diverse and exciting series of riverside developments, cafes, restaurants, museums and recreational areas. Weaving through some of the most important commercial districts in London.

It is not just Docklands workers that are investing in the area; commuters are taking advantage of the fantastic array of transport links on offer with various stations providing access to many of London’s under and overground lines. The DLR, Jubilee, Overground and National rail services to name a few.

Major shopping centres are dotted in and around the region, from the Jubilee Place Mall in Canary Wharf to the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford to the North. Entertainment complexes such as the O2 and the ExCel arena are also found along the river’s edge, ideal for an evening’s entertainment.
